my story
MUSICIAN. COMPOSER. PRODUCER.
My strengths are a devotion to music, a solid background, and a huge working capacity. Since I was a child, I’ve had a special sensibility to express emotions and feelings through music as well as a natural gift for designing catchy tunes, and these capabilities have grown throughout years of training.
I was born in Salamanca, where I received a higher education in classical Piano and Composition (Conservatorio Superior). I moved to Madrid to complete my bachelor in Sound Engineering and Sound Production (SAE Institute Spain) at the same time that I specialized in Jazz and Modern Piano (Germán Kucich).
Upon graduation, I’ve made internships at SAE Institute and with Eugenio Muñoz at Box Villafranca Studios. I’m currently music theory and music composition teacher at SAE Institute and freelance composer and producer.
my work space
THE LOCKED ROOM
I’m currently based in Madrid (Spain). Trustworthy accurate equipment of high-quality is my main companion during this journey. Merging converter and PSI audio speakers are the blend I work with to make my projects come true.
My true place in the world, it turned out, was somewhere beyond myself, and if that place was inside me, it was also unlocatable. This was the tiny hole between self and not-self, and for the first time in my life I saw this nowhere as the exact center of the world. [Paul Auster. New York Trilogy (1990:228, Penguin Group)]
MY INTERESTS BEYOND MUSIC PRODUCTION
ETHNOMUSICOLOGY
My main musical interests beyond music composition and music production, concentrate on world music and traditional music. I’m an ethnomusicologist and anthropologist, and have led a research project that aims to recover popular songs called “Rogativas” through a rural region in Castile. The offspring of this project will be a book that is to be published in 2021.
Moreover, I’m an enthusiast of traditional instruments. My modest collection includes a Tzouras (Greece), a Djembe (Ghana), an Erhu (China), a Teponaztli (Mexico), an Irish Tin Whistle (Ireland), a Derbake (Turkey), an Ocarina (Peru), and a Cajón Flamenco (Spain).
MY PERSONAL MUSICAL PROJECT
NUBES DE MALTA
Although I’ve been part of several bands (Power to the People, Rodrigo Mercado Band, Bobby Martínez Big Band,…), Nubes de Malta is the band in which I’ve channeled my personal creative vein during the past fifteen years. It has accompanied me over the years and evolved into an independent band that aims to blend a quality sound and elaborated lyrics.
